FolderShark adds a folder tree to the WordPress Media Library so you can organize attachments by folder — just like a desktop file manager.
- Create, rename, and delete folders in the Media Library
- Drag & drop attachments between folders
- Filter the grid by folder and apply a custom sort order
- Remove attachments from a folder, including bulk removal for multiple selected attachments
The folder sidebar is available in the WordPress Media Library only.
Source Code
All files in this plugin are maintained source code and are distributed unminified. The sidebar code lives in sidebar.js inside the plugin folder, and it is included in its original form with no build or minification step, so the full source can be read directly from the package. No build tools are used or required.

- Upload the
FolderSharkfolder to/wp-content/plugins/ - Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
- Go to Media Library to start organizing with folders

Does deleting a folder delete my files?

No. Deleting a folder removes the folder from the Media Library and clears the folder assignment from its attachments. The media files themselves are not deleted.

Can I use folders in the post list and pages list?

No. The folder sidebar is for the Media Library only.

How do I move files between folders?

Drag and drop attachments onto the folder you want. You can also use “Remove From Folder” on an attachment, or select multiple attachments and remove them from a folder at once.

What WordPress versions are supported?

WordPress 5.8 or newer, tested up to WordPress 7.1.
