Limit post titles with a character limit within the WordPress dashboard. The plugin works with default post types (posts/pages) as well as any custom post types defined by plugins or themes.
Simply set the character limit in the plugin’s settings pane and check which post types you wish to limit.
The title is limited within the dashboard only and pre-existing titles may need to be updated to match the new limit.

- Upload the plugin folder to the
/wp-content/plugins/directory - Activate the plugin in the WordPress dashboard
- Tweak the settings under ‘Settings -> Limit Post Titles’

The plugin only limits within the dashboard. Posts added before the plugin was activated will need to be modified to match the newly imposed limit.

Anyone still using the block editor in 2023 won't find this plugin useful. However, if you're using the original Wordpress editor, or pages with Elementor, this plugin works great!

Just wanted to let everyone know that this plugin does not work with the block editor (default editor since WP 5.0), so don't waste your time installing it if you plan to use it with the block editor

Tested with WordPress 5.3.2. Just set a limit and select the post types you want to apply it to.
When entering the title of a new post, the number of remaining characters is displayed at the right side of the text box. When the number of characters exceeds the limit, the number goes negative and turns red.
