Presets are included for standard WordPress content, the block editor, Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, WPBakery, Bricks and Oxygen. **If some text on your site is not hyphenated, that container is simply not on the list.** Themes, custom widgets and third-party plugins use class names no plugin can know in advance. Right-click the text, choose Inspect, and add the containing element’s class under _Custom CSS selectors_. Upload the plugin to `/wp-content/plugins/georgian-hyphenation/`, or install it through the WordPress plugins screen. 2. Activate the plugin. 3. Open the **Georgian Hyphenation** menu in the admin sidebar (also reachable from the toolbar and the Settings link on the Plugins screen) and choose which containers to process. The defaults cover standard post content and the common Elementor text widgets. ## 常見問題集 ### Does this plugin call any external services? No. The hyphenation engine and the exception dictionary are bundled with the plugin and served from your own site. ### Does it require Elementor? No. Elementor widget presets are provided for convenience, but the plugin works with any theme via CSS selectors. ### Will it change my stored content? No. Hyphenation happens in the visitor’s browser at render time. Your posts and pages in the database are never modified, and the plugin stands aside inside the Elementor editor and the Customizer. ### Some of my text is not hyphenated. Why? Because that container is not on the allow list. The plugin hyphenates only the containers selected on its settings screen, and custom or third-party widgets use class names it cannot know in advance — a common example is a widget that renders its excerpt in a `div` rather than a `p`. Right-click the text that is not hyphenated, choose Inspect, find the element wrapping it, and add its class (for example `.my-widget-text`) under _Custom CSS selectors_. The currently active selector list is shown on the same screen so you can confirm the result. ### Why don’t headings and titles get hyphenated? Because the “Headings (h1–h6)” preset is off by default. Turn it on and titles are hyphenated everywhere, including headings sitting inside other content. It is off by default for two reasons: hyphenated headings are a matter of taste, and headings are where sites use display fonts — the fonts most likely to draw the soft hyphen as a visible dash. Turn it on, then look at a long title on a narrow screen. If the dashes appear mid-word, that font is the problem; switch it off again or change the font. ### I saw dashes inside words that are not at line ends. Why? The active font draws the soft hyphen (U+00AD) as a visible glyph instead of hiding it — a font bug, most common in decorative display fonts. Switch off the preset covering that text (usually Headings) or change the font. This cannot be detected automatically. Browsers strip soft hyphens during text shaping, so the character measures exactly zero width in every font whether or not the font would draw it — there is nothing for the plugin to test, which is why this is a setting rather than something automatic. ### Why do copied texts sometimes contain invisible characters? Soft hyphens (U+00AD) are invisible break hints. Some applications preserve them when text is copied from a page.
